As German rearmament took its first steps, refreshed uniforms were an essential aspect of "rebranding." Though wool field shirts were becoming anachronistic around this time, the design manages to balance modernization with tradition.  

Iterating off of the four-pocket M43 shirt, these Jackets were designed to function alongside a button-on load-bearing rig. They also boast some quality of life improvements, including reinforced elbows. These uniforms became standard by the early 1960s.
